Chasing Volcanoes

Science Talk with Vin & Videnskab

CLIVE OPPENHEIMER  (England), Award-winning professor of volcanology from the University of Cambridge

The talk will be in English

Our foreign guest this fall season is the highly esteemed Clive Oppenheimer, professor of volcanology at the University of Cambridge, who has appeared in two films he has produced in collaboration with renowned director Werner Herzog: Into the Inferno (2016) og Fireball (2020).

Clive Oppenheimer has been researching volcanoes for three decades, from Antarctica, where he has been doing fieldwork on Mount Erebus for 13 seasons, to distant Pacific islands, East African war zones and North Korea.

For this lecture, Oppenheimer will talk about his volcanic studies around the world and give us insight into how far volcanologists have come in understanding how volcanoes work and how volcanic eruptions have had a major impact on human history.

A glass of wine (included in the price) is served for the event.

The lecture Chasing Volcanoes has been postponed from spring to autumn 2021

The lecture has been postponed twice due to the COVID19 situation. Tickets purchased for the event will be valid on the new date. Ticket holders have received an email via Billetto with further information.
