The Sonograph

A multimedia show with sounds and images from the ocean

Sonografen

Underwater, sound is the only effective form of communication over long distances. And the ocean is certainly not the “silent world” which Jacques Cousteau experienced on his dives. Unlike Cousteau, marine animals have ears which are adapted to underwater conditions, and for them it is far from a silent world.

Whales in particular rely on sound both for communication and to locate their prey. The museums' two enormous whale skeletons have been transformed for this exhibition into the canvasses for a huge multi-media show featuring whales and whale-sounds.
